IF YOUR WORKERS NEED TO SHOUT, YOUR FACTORY’S NOISE IS ALREADY SPEAKING FOR ITSELF.
“Can still work.”
“Already provided earplugs.”
“The machine has always been this loud.”
These are not proof that employees are safe.
Excessive noise can damage hearing gradually. By the time an employee notices the problem, the damage may already be permanent.
HAS YOUR NRA EXPIRED?
Under Malaysia’s Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019, a Noise Risk Assessment must be reviewed no later than five years after the previous assessment.
A review is also required when there are significant changes involving machinery, equipment, processes, work activities or noise-control measures or when directed by DOSH/JKKP.
Your company may need an NRA review if:
The previous NRA is over five years old
New machinery has been installed
Production processes or layouts have changed
Employees must shout to communicate
Earplugs are provided without proper assessment
Audiometric results indicate possible hearing changes
No one knows exactly who is exposed
Simply providing earplugs is not enough.
A proper Noise Risk Assessment identifies:
Where excessive noise comes from
Which employees are exposed
Employees’ actual daily noise exposure
Whether existing controls are effective
Whether the hearing protectors are suitable
What actions the employer should take next
ECC provides professional NRA services by a DOSH-registered Noise Risk Assessor.
Workplace and machinery noise measurement
Personal noise-exposure monitoring
Noise mapping and exposed-employee identification
Hearing-protection assessment
Practical engineering-control recommendations
THE MACHINE CAN BE REPAIRED.
PRODUCTION CAN BE REPLACED.
AN EMPLOYEE’S HEARING CANNOT.
Protect hearing before it is too late.
Control the noise before it controls your workplace.
Review your NRA before DOSH reminds you.
