Improvement In Osha (Amendment) 2022 (Act A1648) : 29A (1) An employer whose place of work is NOT included in any class or description of place of work as published in the Gazette under subsection 29(1) shall appoint one of his employees to act as an Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator (OSH-C) if he employs five or more employees at his place of work.
Occupational safety and health in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) is critical due to the potential risks of incidents, accidents, injuries, and fatalities. The Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator (OSH-C) plays a key role in ensuring OSH compliance, communicating with regulatory bodies, managing OSH documents, and promoting a safety culture. This position is part of the Occupational Safety and Health Strategic Plan for SMEs (SME 2020), aiming to enhance OSH management and cultivate a preventive culture regarding injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
